🌟 Summer Metro Update 🌟

What a fabulous start we’ve had to our Summer Metro Season! Last weekend's Round 7 was a standout, with SNB fielding 11 teams at PLC and coming away with 10 wins and 1 draw. An amazing effort!! Well done to all our Players, Coaches and teams!

Important Dates:

• The last Junior Metro game for 2024 will be on Sunday, 8th December, after which we’ll take a well-deserved summer break.
• Games for Juniors will resume on Sunday, 2nd February 2025.

Training During the Break:
Training will continue over the summer break, however we understand many families may be away on holidays. Therefore each team’s schedule will vary, so your coaches and managers will communicate directly with you regarding your team’s training or social catch ups over the summer.

🌟 Super League Semi Finals and Grand Finals 🌟

Get ready for an electrifying weekend of Water Polo as the NSW Super League Semi-Finals and Grand Finals take place at PLC! 🤽‍♂️🏆

The Super League Finals are a great opportunity for everyone, especially our Juniors to watch high quality Water Polo at its best, so if you are free come along and show your support!

The SNB A Teams will also be hosting a BBQ and Drinks Stall as part of their fundraising efforts for the upcoming Nationals Tournament in Perth next April.

A Few Things to Remember When Visiting PLC

At SNB, we’re incredibly fortunate to have a strong relationship with PLC, allowing us to hire their pool for training sessions and games and to host our fundraising BBQs and food stalls. To maintain this partnership, it’s vital that we respect their property and follow their rules.

Please take a moment to read through the guidelines below and remind your children, family members, and spectators of the importance of abiding by these rules to ensure we can continue enjoying the use of this facility.

Key Guidelines:

1. Stay Within the Aquatic Centre: Please remain within the confines of the aquatic centre. The broader school grounds, including the Tennis/Basketball Courts and Gymnasium are strictly off limits.
2. Respect Property: Treat all equipment and property with care, damage could jeopardise our relationship with PLC.
3. Supervision: Ensure children are supervised at all times, both in and out of the pool.
4. Cleanliness: Leave the venue as you found it, dispose of rubbish in the bins provided and keep the area tidy.
5. Parking: Follow any parking restrictions or instructions provided by PLC.
6. Conduct: Be respectful of PLC staff and no loud or disruptive behavior.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us preserve this fantastic partnership with PLC. Together, we can ensure SNB continues to have access to such a wonderful facility for our water polo community.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been fortunate to host BBQs and food stalls at PLC during long game days. These events have been a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community while supporting our club.

A Huge Thank You to all our members and their families for your incredible support, whether you’ve turned a sausage on the BBQ, worked or baked a sweet treat for the stall, or simply cheered us on. Your contributions have made a real difference!

Proceeds from these initiatives will go towards much needed updates to club equipment, like new caps and balls, supporting our teams in upcoming tournaments, and planning future SNB Club social events. With increasing pool hire fees and other rising costs, every bit of support helps us continue to provide the best possible experience for our players and their families.

We’re excited to say that PLC have let us have 2 more weekends to host these fundraising events before the end of the year. The next opportunity is THIS WEEKEND during the National League Men’s and Women’s Semi-Finals and Grand Finals, where the A teams heading to Nationals in Perth next April will be volunteering their services to run these.

We truly appreciate your time, energy, and generosity. Thank you for being part of our amazing SNB community.

What a fantastic time our U14 and U17 teams had at the 2024 Junior Canberra Cup tournament beginning of November! We are so proud of the incredible effort, club spirit and sportsmanship shown by all our players and members on the tour.

We would like to say a huge Thank you to everyone who participated throughout the weekend. Whether you played, coached, refereed, chaperoned, managed, braved the bus trip or volunteered your time, each of you helped make this event possible, so THANKYOU for all your support we really appreciate it.

Special thanks go to our SNB Tour Coordinators, Amanda Blackshaw and Lynne Akhurst, for their amazing efforts in organising the logistics while down in Canberra. Their work behind the scenes ensured everything ran smoothly and allowed everyone to focus on enjoying the games and each other’s company.

We would also like to give a special mention to Tilly Kricak (U14A Girls) and Henry Akhurst (U17A Boys) for being awarded MVP in their Grand Finals, what a fantastic achievement!

WPNSW 2024 State Championship Dates - 14th - 22nd December 2024

The NSW State Championships will serve as the primary seeding event for the 2025
Australian Youth Water Polo Championships (AYWPC).

The NSW State Championships will include the following age groups and SNB will be sending A and B (Blue teams):

• Under 12's - 20th-22nd December 2024
• Under 14's - 19th-22nd December 2024
• Under 16's - 14th-17th December 2024
• Under 18's - 18th-21st December 2024
• Under 22's (Col Smee Championships) - 14th-15th December 2024

The Australian Youth Water Polo Championships (AYWPC) will make a stunning return to Perth, Western Australia in April 2025.

Week 1 | 14-18 April 2025: 18&U and 14&U age groups

Week 2 | 20-24 April 2025: 16&U and 12&U age groups 

SNB will be sending A Grade Teams in the 12&U, 14&U, 16&U and 18&U Divisions. More details regarding this tournament will be sent through to teams in the New Year. If you have any further enquiries please contact secretary@snbwaterpolo.com.au

🌟 National State Championships Success 🌟
Congratulations to our 22 SNB members who competed at the National State Championships on the Gold Coast from Thursday, 26th September to Monday, 30th September! This group included 14 SNB players, 4 SNB Coaches/Assistant Coaches, and 1 incredible SNB Team Manager for WPNSW, as well as 2 SNB women who joined the U15's Barbarians team and 1 SNB U17's Men's player competing for the Men's SA team.
We extend a special Congratulations to the NSW U15’s Women’s Team for their hard-fought Gold Medal victory over Queensland in an intense Grand Final that went down to the wire with a nail biting penalty shootout!

Following the success of the 2024 National State Championships on the Gold Coast, Water Polo Australia announced the athletes who have been selected in the 16&U and 18&U NAGP squads for 2025.

🌟 NSW Masters Championships Tournament 🌟

A Huge Congratulations to our Senior members who competed at the NSW Masters Championships Tournament on the Gold Coast this November! Both teams performed exceptionally well with only a few minor injuries... With both teams earning a fantastic 3rd place finish in their divisions.

🏆 Men’s Team – "West Bexley Pipes and Marching Band Water Polo Club" - SNB members Dean Semmens, Ivor Dacic, Chris Smith, Adrian Ciano, James Akhurst, Neil Cooke, Stephen Hatch, Greg Schultz and Ian Gard.

A Huge Congratulations to the incredible Debbie Watson, our SNB W18's Mentor, M16B Manager and Australian Women’s Water Polo Gold Medalist from the Sydney 2000 Olympics, on being awarded Life Membership by Water Polo Australia!

This prestigious honor celebrates Debbie's outstanding contributions to the sport, both in and out of the water. Her dedication, achievements, and passion for Water Polo have inspired so many, and we are so proud to have her as part of our SNB community.

What a well deserved recognition for an absolute legend of the sport, Congratulations, Debbie! 🎉👏

Northern Beaches Water Polo Academy - "The Water Polo School"  has been set up to manage, promote, encourage and develop Water Polo on the Northern Beaches and beyond, specialising in Grassroots programs.

NBWPA works in partnership with the Sydney Northern Beaches (SNB Breakers) Water Polo Club to assist with their Representative Pathway selections.

NBWPA offers:

• Flippaball for boys and girls 6 years to 10 years -  (Ages are grouped together)

• Junior Development Competitions and Programs 10 years to 12 years

• Junior Development Competitions and Programs 13's and above - on request (minimum numbers required)

• Northern Suburbs Schools Competition

  • Opens (Term 1 & Term 2) - Years 10, 11 & 12

  • Intermediates (Term 2 & 3) - Years 8 & 9
