Summer 2024/25 Calendar

As the Winter Metro Competition wraps up this weekend, we want to say Well Done and Congratulations to all our Players, Coaches, Managers, Referees and Supporters for making this season such a success.

Winter training wraps up this week, ending on 23rd August. You'll have a well-deserved 2-week break before the Summer Metro Trials begin. Enjoy the downtime, and get ready for the upcoming season!

A special shoutout to our 4 SNB teams who have made it to the Grand Finals! If you're available and want to see some finals Water Polo your support would be greatly appreciated.

Join us THIS Sunday 25th August at PLC (Pymble Ladies’ College) to cheer on the following teams:

• W14B - SNB vs UNSW Wests @ 10am
• W16B - SNB vs Ryde Black @ 12:30pm
• W16A - SNB vs Balmain Black @ 1:45pm

WPNSW Junior Summer Metro 2024/2025 Season

We are excited to announce the start of the WPNSW Junior Summer Metro 2024/2025 Season!

Season Dates:

• U14s, U16s, and U18s: Sunday, 13th October 2024 - Sunday, 30th March 2025, with a break from 9th December 2024 - 2nd February 2025.
• U12s: Sunday, 20th October 2024 - Sunday, 30th March 2025, with a break from 2nd December 2024 - 2nd February 2025.

Trial Information:

• U12s (2014 & 2013): Trials are being conducted through Northern Beaches Water Polo Academy at Warringah Aquatic Centre (WAC).
• U14s, U16s, and U18s: Trials will begin 10th September, 2024 and run over two weeks. All trials for these age groups will be held at Pymble Ladies College (PLC) Aquatic Centre, Avon Rd, Pymble 2073.

Trial Schedule:

• W14 (2012 & 2011): Tuesday, 10th & 17th September - 7pm-9pm
• M14 (2012 & 2011): Tuesday, 10th & 17th September - 7pm-9pm
• W16 (2010 & 2009): Wednesday, 11th & 18th September - 7pm-9pm
• M16 (2010 & 2009): Thursday, 12th & 19th September - 7pm-9pm
• W18 (2008 & 2007): Wednesday, 11th & 18th September - 7pm-9pm
• M18 (2008 & 2007): Thursday, 12th & 19th September - 7pm-9pm

Registration: All participants wishing to attend trials must register in advance. There are no trials for Men’s and Women’s Open teams, but an Expression of Interest (EOI) registration is required.

• EOI Registration Deadline: Friday, 30th August 2024 @ 5:00pm.
• Registration Link: SNB Summer Metro Trials EOI (Ensure you register under the correct age group to assist coaches and selectors in preparing for the trials.)

Important Notes:

• There is NO cost to participate in the trials.
• We please ask Parents/Carers to drop off and not stay for the trials to ensure all Athletes and Selectors/Coaches are able to focus and trial without any distractions. Why not pop over to Pymble Hotel or one of the restaurants in Phillip Mall at West Pymble Shops for a quick dinner, both a 5 minute drive from PLC.
• You do not need to log in with a username or password; simply scroll down and complete the "Basic Details" using the player's name, NOT the parent’s name.
• Submitting an EOI and participating in trials DOES NOT guarantee a place on a team. This process helps us gauge interest and determine team formations.

Please encourage your children simply to do their best, and remind them that you will be proud regardless of the outcome. This approach will take some pressure off the athletes, who can then focus on doing their best and having fun.

After trials are completed, SNB Women’s and Men’s Directors will provide updates on team formations and coaches by the beginning of October. Please stay tuned for further communication.

WPNSW 2024 State Championship Dates - 14th - 22nd December 2024

The NSW State Championships will serve as the primary seeding event for the 2025
Australian Youth Water Polo Championships (AYWPC).

The NSW State Championships will include the following age groups:

• Under 12's - 20th-22nd December 2024
• Under 14's - 19th-22nd December 2024
• Under 16's - 14th-17th December 2024
• Under 18's - 18th-21st December 2024
• Under 22's (Col Smee Championships) - 14th-15th December 2024

🌟 Water Polo Exchange Tournament

Congratulations to our 13 SNB players who competed in the Water Polo Exchange Tournament at Cranbrook School, Sydney, from Wednesday, 31st July to Friday, 2nd August. A special shoutout to the NSWCIS U17's Men's team, who earned a Silver Medal after a close battle with the QLD Men's team in the Grand Final, and to the NSWCIS U17's Women's team, who claimed the Gold Medal by defeating the QLD Women's team in their Grand Final!

🌟 NSW Masters Tournament

A big shoutout to some of our Senior members who have been hard at work training for the upcoming NSW Masters Tournament taking place in the Gold Coast this November. Good luck, Team! We’re excited to follow your journey and can't wait to hear some entertaining stories from your tour when you return...

The Australian Youth Water Polo Championships (AYWPC) will make a stunning return to Perth, Western Australia in April 2025.

Week 1 | 14-18 April 2025: 18&U and 14&U age groups

Week 2 | 20-24 April 2025: 16&U and 12&U age groups 

SNB will be sending an A Grade Team in the 12&U, 14&U, 16&U and 18&U Divisions. More details regarding this tournament including which teams will be selected to compete at Nationals will be published after Summer Metro trials and once teams are confirmed at the end of September 2024.

Wow, what an incredible 2 weeks the Aussie Sharks and Aussie Stingers have given us of Water Polo at its finest! The excitement, skill, and dedication on display were truly something special.

Not to mention what a fabulous night it was at our SNB screening of the Aussie Sharks' first game of the 2024 Olympic Games against Spain! A big thank you to everyone who came out and braved the extra cold winter night... it was wonderful to come together as a club and watch these incredible athletes compete in the sport we all love. A special thanks to Chris Smith for organizing the event. 

Australian Women’s Water Polo Team Claims Olympic Silver 🥈

The Australian Women’s Water Polo Team, the Stingers, has earned a remarkable Olympic Silver Medal after a hard-fought 11-9 match against World Number One, Spain. Despite the loss, the team showcased their unwavering "Aussie fighting spirit" throughout the game.

This outstanding performance cements the Stingers' place in history as the second most successful team in the sport, following only the legendary Gold Medal-winning side from the Sydney 2000 Games.

We are incredibly proud of our very own homegrown Breakers players—Tilly Kearns, Bronte Halligan, and Sienna Hearn. Well done, girls! You are an inspiration to us all.

Northern Beaches Water Polo Academy - "The Water Polo School"  has been set up to manage, promote, encourage and develop Water Polo on the Northern Beaches and beyond, specialising in Grassroots programs.

NBWPA works in partnership with the Sydney Northern Beaches (SNB Breakers) Water Polo Club to assist with their Representative Pathway selections.

NBWPA offers:

• Flippaball for boys and girls 6 years to 10 years -  (Ages are grouped together)

• Junior Development Competitions and Programs 10 years to 12 years

• Junior Development Competitions and Programs 13's and above - on request (minimum numbers required)

• Northern Suburbs Schools Competition

  • Opens (Term 1 & Term 2) - Years 10, 11 & 12

  • Intermediates (Term 2 & 3) - Years 8 & 9

  • Year 7 (Term 3)

• Social Ladies & Mens Competitions  

  • On request (minimum numbers required and subject to pool availability)

• Water Polo Event & Competition Management  

  • We would love to host or assist your club/organisation with their upcoming Water Polo Competition and/or Event.
